The Clinical Careers in Psychology Q&A – jointly brought to you by the Gordon Career Center and the Psychology Department – continues Monday, February 10th at 12:15pm at the Gordon Career Center (lunch will be provided).
Our next featured alumnus is Claire Haiman, PsyD ’95, a clinical psychologist at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Claire Haiman is a clinical psychologist and Director for the Mental Health Services division of the Student Health Service (SHS) at Columbia. Prior to joining SHS, Claire had been at the Counseling Services of the New School University and at the New York State Psychiatric Institute where she had worked in both the Eating Disorder Treatment/Research Unit and the Department of Neuroscience. She specializes in mindfulness-based body-focused psychotherapy and is trained in Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. Haiman earned her PsyD at Rutgers University and completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.

Boston Career Treks in March 2020 – Apply by 2/13 & 2/20
The Boston Career Trek program begins on-campus and includes a day trip to Boston to meet with Wesleyan alumni at their places of work. Students will have the option to choose from treks in one of six different fields including sales/marketing, tech, health, journalism/media, education and visual arts. More information (including participating employers) is available on Handshake, and interested students should apply by Thursday, February 13.
Additional career trek opportunities this spring include the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, the Global Health & Innovation Conference, the Jackson Laboratory, and the 2020 MIT Sustainability Summit. These opportunities all have an application deadline of Thursday, February 20th.
Grief Support Circle Today – Tuesday, 1/28
Grief Support Circle: Dani Jewell-Tyrcha
In light of Dani Jewell-Tyrcha’s recent death, a support circle is being offered where students can gather to process, grieve, reflect, and be in solidarity with one another today, Tuesday, 1/28, at 5pm in the ORSL Lounge at 169 High Street, second floor.
The circle will be facilitated by staff from the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and Counseling and Psychological Services.
Wesleyan Summer Grant Program – Application Opens 1/27; Info Sessions Begin 1/28
Looking for funding for your unpaid or low-paid summer experience?
The 2020 Wesleyan Summer Grants Program will be accepting applications from January 27th – February 27th, 11:59pm.
Wesleyan Summer Grants are funding resources awarded through the Gordon Career Center which allow students to pursue no- or low-paid career-related summer experiences. Experiential learning opportunities can be both in the U.S. and abroad and include career-related opportunities such as internships, faculty-mentored research, language study, volunteer work, field study, and academic programs.
The Gordon Career Center will be holding four information sessions which will cover funding opportunities, eligibility and requirements, navigating the application process, and what makes a strong application. All sessions will conclude with a Q&A.
